24-hour bandh ends

Imphal, March 20 2015 :
The 24-hour State wide bandh call given by the JAC against the killing of Md Lukaman of Thoubal Moijing ended with a mixed response on Friday.
However, Imphal East's Hatta Golapati and Thoubal district's Lilong and Moijing witnessed complete bandh.
Almost all parts of the State defied the strike.
Bandh supporters in Hata Golapati and Lilong areas blocked roads and damaged at least five vehicles.
Police fired a few rounds of tear gas shells to disperse the protesters, but no untoward incidents were reported.

Imphal Khwairamband market witnessed large crowd as people came to buy things for the Sajibu Nongma Panba Cheeiraoba festival celebrating tomorrow (March 21).Normal functioning of educational institutions and Government establishments were not affected by the strike.
Meanwhile, the Pangal Students' Organisation condemned the killing of Md Lukaman.
Md Lukaman was found dead at Ahallup bazaar in Imphal East after he was reported missing since March 16 .
