Farmers' training programme on scientific maize production held

A two-day farmers' training programme on scientific maize production technology organised by the ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Manipur Centre was inaugurated today at ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Lamphelpat.
The inaugural function of the training programme was attended by L Palandra Singh, Director of Agriculture Department; Dr Vinay Mahajan, Principal Scientist (Plant Breeding), Directorate of Maize Research, New Delhi and Dr Narendra Prakash, Joint Director, ICAR Manipur Centre as the chief guest, guest of honour and president respectively.
Speaking at the inaugural function, L Palandra said the farmers need to know scientific method in cultivating maize in Manipur.
He said maize cannot be produced in huge quantity without employing scientific method.
Stressing on the need to produce maize in huge quantity, he urged the farmers to participate in the training programme sincerely.
Farmers from across the nine districts of the State have participated in the training programme.
