RK Anand inspects construction works for displaced villagers

Imphal, January 20 2013 :
Along with officials of PWD, MLA of Naoriya Pakhanglakpa A/C RK Anand today inspected the newly constructed roads and settlement areas for villagers affected by the expansion of Imphal Airport.
During the visit, the MLA inspected parts of Kwakeithel Chingphu Road (Ningombam) and connecting roads to Mekola and Malom, stretching over a length of 12 kms.
Speaking to mediapersons on the sidelines of the inspection, MLA RK Anand observed that though the villagers are presently facing difficulties from bad roads, the construction of the roads would be completed by March this year.
Eighty percent of the construction process has been completed so far.
The MLA also inspected the progress of road construction being taken up from Ningombam to Phuramakhong and from Mekola to Malom.
He informed that since the State Government is having shortage of funds, the Government is trying its level best to include the construction works of the roads under the State Plan.
He also visited the newly constructed settlement areas in Langthabal Makha Leikai and lends a patient hearing to the grievances of the villagers.
The MLA has expressed desire for the State Government to come up with some specific rehabilitation programmes for the affected villagers.
