Chandel, October 19 2019:
The Naga Students' Union Chandel (NSUC) has expressed deepest resentment over the State Govt failure to address the basic need of District Transport Office, Chandel, even after numerous appeals through print media, memorandums to the concerned department including the Chief Minister, said a press release issued by NSUC.
It further said that the Govt has made assurance on number of occasions for the early functioning of it at the District HQ Chandel, but no concrete action has been taken up so far while adding that DTO, Chandel has opened a makeshift office at Thoubal and the people of Chandel have to travel to the makeshift office for paperworks be it for driving license, number plate etc, and it took atleast two days to submit the application form due to long queue.
In the statement, NSUC lamented the deplorable condition of the road stretch leading to District HQ Chandel, absence of senior doctors in District Hospital Chandel and primary teachers in schools.
As such, NSUC cautioned the concerned authority to address the problems regarding District Transport Office, Chandel by October 24 failing which the union will call total shutdown of the Chandel district on October 25 including highways and any untoward incident occurred during the bandh shall be sole responsibility of the Govt, it maintained.
