Joint meeting held on Nungei issue

Nungei JAC, LIYA and Apunba Iramsiphai Meira Paibi jointly organised a public meeting at Iram Siphai community hall today.
The meeting unanimously resolved to urge State Government to set up an enquiry committee to apprehend and punish those involved in arson and robbery during the Nungei incident.
The meeting also resolved to demand compensation for the affected families from the State Government, construction of a bridge and set up a police out-post in the area.
The public meeting further resolved to retain villagers in relief camps until the issue is sorted out.
Nungei JAC was constituted during the public meeting today.
The public meeting also sought the merger of Nungei Meitei to a nearby Meitei majority AC.
The JAC and other organisations have warned agitation in case the State Government fail to address the above mentioned demands of the Nungei people by December 30, our correspondent reports.
