Bright students of Thangmeiband AC feted

Thangmeiband Assembly Constituency MLA Kh Joykisan has said that all the meritorious students of the constituency who secure top positions and high marks in the Class X and Class XII examinations will be awarded Rs 50,000 each from next year.
Speaking to media persons during a felicitation ceremony held at Khoyathong community centre, Thangmeiband Polem Leikai, under the aegis of Thangmeiband Kendra Development Organisation (TAKDO), Joykisan said that the award will be given to the meritorious students of the Constituency who secure high marks in the HSLC exam conducted by BOSEM, Higher Secondary Examination conducted by COHSEM and the CBSE exam.
He claimed that the number of students scoring high marks in such major examinations in the Constituency is increasing every year.
He stated that earlier students who passed Class X and Class XII examinations usually chose medical or engineering and others went to study outside the State for professional technical courses.
Today, however, the students are beginning to opt for civil services as well, he added.
Lauding such positive change, Joykisan said that there is no harm in studying further in traditional courses as well instead of such professional courses.
A total of 182 students were felicitated during the event.
TAKDO president Mutum Rajendro, advisor Soram Bijyo, TAKDO women wing president G Thoibi, retd HoD of Pathology, RIMS, Dr Durlav Chandra Sharma, DMC Commerce Associate Professor Ph Ibomcha Sharma, Bengali Samaj general secretary Babul Kanesha Banik and IMC Ward No 1 Councillor Gangmei Gnaidon Rongmei attended the event as the presidium members.
