Imphal, March 17 2015: Waishel Marin Shemgatpa Lup expressed its fear of the existing 'Waishel Marin' (water route) into a 'Sewage Marin' (Sewage route) considering the attitude of the non-functioning departments of State Government such as, Irrigation and Flood Control Department; Public Health Engineering Department, Manipur Pollution Control Board, Engineers and related authorities.

The Lup has also stated its fear of spreading of 'Swine Flu' and many such diseases as the sewages dumped into these water routes has become a breeding ground for diseases polluting both water and air.

The Lup has appealed to the government to take up necessary steps before the rainy season to avoid disease and artificial floods, failing which the Lup will be forced to launch intense agitations.

Adding on, the Lup demanded transparency from the 7 A/C MLA funds, spent/allotted for develovement of Waishel Marin, said a press release by the Lup's Secretary General, Naorem Deban.
