National seminar of IGNTU concludes

A two-day National Seminar on 'India's Foreign Policy: Continuity and Change' organised by the Department of Political Science of the Indira Gandhi National Tribal University � Regional Campus, Manipur (IGNTU�RCM), was concluded today at Tribal Research Institute Complex.
India and Ethiopia Relations: A Paradigm Shift, India-Africa Relations: Post Cold War Period, India's Policy Towards South Africa in the Post-Apartheid Period Elucidating History and Policy in the Context of Indo-Mauritius Relations, Look East Policy: A Tool for Development of North East India Strategic Physical Connectivity between India an South East Asia through the North Eastern Region, North-East Factor in India's Foreign Policy: Emerging Trends and Future Options, India ASEAN Relation: Political and Economic Aspect in the new Millennium Foreign Policy Beyond Statist, Continuing Relevance of Non-Alignment are some of the topics which are highlighted in the Seminar that began yesterday.

Eminent resource persons and political scientists who delivered papers included Dr L Rajen Singh of MU, Dr Dhanabir Laishram, former Guest Faculty of MU, Dr Ng Ngalengnam of IGNTU,RC, Manipur, Dr N Surjit Singh (convener), Dr N Somorendro Singh of Manipur College, Dr Joseph Kuba, Assistant Regional Director IGNOU, David K Zote of MU etc.

Secy & Chair of ASA, India, New Delhi chaired the second day session of the seminar today while Dr AS Yaruingam of Delhi University, Dr Bijay Pratahari of Jamia Milia Islamia, New Delhi, Dr Paokholal Haokip of Pondicherry University, Dr N Surjitkumar of IGNTU, RC, Manipur, Dr Roulkhumzo of MU presented their original research papers.
The valedictory function was chaired by Th Oliver Monsang, OSD, IGNTU, RC-Manipur while MP Dr T Meinya Singh graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
Addressing the gathering as the chief guest, Dr Meinya elaborated the necessity of holding the Seminar in University and Colleges in Manipur.
He also said that special thrust is being given by the Union Government in the Higher Education Sector in the next 12th five year Plan Period.
