Imphal, January 17 2014 : Employees of Public Works Department (PWD) staged a sit-in-protest today at its complex in condemnation of the abduction of Angom Patel (55), an employee of the department who has been abducted along with three persons, two contractors and a driver, while they were going to inspect the worksite at Singda on January 11 last.

Speaking to media on the sidelines of the protest demonstration, Tongbram Tikendrajit Singh, president of All Manipur PWD Employees' and Workers' Association said the motive behind the abduction of the four persons is still not known.

There has been not monetary demand served to the department by any organization.

Taking serious note over the abduction, he stated that the association in collaboration with Joint Co-ordinating Committee Engineering Department will launch series of intense agitation if the abducted persons were not released at the earliest.
