Ideals of Naoriya Phullo extolled

Describing Naoriya Phullo as a visionary who knew exactly what would come to the Manipuri society and its people, Director of Information and Public Relations W Rajen, who is also in charge of the Settlement and Land Records, has stated that we should not forget or ignore such personalities who walked among us once.
Speaking at the occasion of observing the 126th birth anniversary of Naoriya Phullo organised by Laininghan Naoriya Phullo Charitable Trust, Soibam Leikai Wangkhei Khuman at Kuki Inn here today, W Rajen, who attended the event as chief guest, reminded the gathering that Naoriya Phullo was an individual who dedicated his life to the cause of promoting the Manipuri culture, language and religion.
So, the younger generation should keep alive his memory of by studying and analysing his works and philosophies.
It was because of people like Naoriya Phullo that Manipuri society has evolved over the years, he added.

Presided over by president of Apokpa Marup NK Puthiba, the function was also attended by Editor of Naharolgi Thoudang Khoirom Loyalakpa; Director of Zenith Academy, Imphal S Manaoton and Executive Editor of Pandam N Tomba as guests of honour.
As part of the event, a poetry writing competition for students on the theme of Naoriya Phullo was also conducted.
In the competition, Englembi Soibam (Class IX) of Nirmalabas School and Huidrom Thadoi (Class IV) of Ngangabam JB School were declared the joint winner of the first prize which carried a cash reward of Rs 5000 and certificates.
The second prize of Rs 4000 and certificate was won by Anamika Heirung khongjam (Class XI) of DAV Public School and the third prize of Rs 3000 and certificate by Minalini Ayekpam (Class XI) of HRD Academy.
Besides the three toppers, 10 other co-petitioners were also honoured with consolation prizes of Rs 500 and certificate each.
