Kakching, Thoubal VDFs join stir

Kakching, May 15 2025: In response to the indefinite "gun down" strike called by All Manipur VDF Employees' Welfare Association, VDF personnel deployed at police stations, outposts, traffic control points and other vulnerable areas in Kakching and Thoubal districts laid down their service weapons and joined the protest on Thursday.

The association launched the strike in protest against the government's continued indifference to their long-standing demands, which include service regularisation, salary revision and the implementation of Section 18 of the Police Act, 1861, along with the VDF Recruitment Rules, among others.

The VDF personnel stated that the lack of recognition for their roles has led to a growing sense of unease and demoralisation within the force.

They asked authorities concerned to raise their demands at the Governor's Council meeting and take prompt steps toward their implementation.
