Saitu MLA Haokholet Kipgen visits relief camp

Saitu MLA Haokholet Kipgen visited the pre-fabricated relief camp at Phaijang village in Saitu assembly constituency on Saturday to personally assess the current situation of displaced persons living in the camp.
During the visit, the MLA took stocks of the challenges and grievances faced by the displaced people.
He also expressed his gratitude to district administration for arranging a large structure that could accommodate hundreds of displaced families and praised the administration's dedication to addressing the needs of the people affected by the conflict.
MLA Kipgen also spent time listening to stories of hardship faced by the displaced people while noting their concerns and immediate needs.
He expressed deep sympathy for their plight and lauded their resilience in these trying times.
In a reassuring move, the MLA informed the IDPs of the ongoing efforts to establish semi-permanent residences, a project he has been working on for the past few months.
He promised that many displaced families would be able to move into more stable living conditions by the end of this year.
He also said that the Government of India is committed to providing semi-pucca/semi-permanent residences for IDPs who wish to construct their own homes.
The MLA further explained that the Centre has allocated Rs 10 lakh for the construction of each semi-permanent house.
Sharing updates about his constituency, the Saitu MLA stated that around 21 houses are expected to construct in Saitu AC with the Centre providing Rs 10 lakh for each house.
When asked about the timeline for the displaced families to return to their homes, the MLA emphasised that returning is not yet feasible at present.
He reassured the displaced families that permanent settlements may take time but semi-permanent housing would be provided as an interim solution.
He also assured the displaced people that a permanent solution is still in progress but a semi-permanent settlement will be made avail able by the Government of India as interim measure.
This measure will be com pleted within this year for those who have applied and provided all necessary documents, he added.
During his visit, MLA Kipgen also offered a heartfelt message of hope, encouraging the displaced people to remain strong and united.
