GOC pays tribute to Shangshal war heroes

Imphal, May 14 2013: Lt Gen A K Sahni, SM, VSM, General Officer Commanding 3 Corps visited 10 Sector Assam Rifles in Somsai from 13-14 May, 13 .

On 14 May 13, the GOC laid wreath at Shangshak War Memorial and paid tribute to the martyrs of Battle of Shangshak, who fought with tenacity against the Japanese forces during the World War II .

On this occasion, the GOC also interacted with the ex-servicemen and locals of Shangshak.

The GOC also interacted with the local youths and appreciated the local talent.

The GOC promised to provide better opportunities to the artists of Ukhrul.

The GOC also interacted with the local dignitaries including Victor Keishing, MLA of Phungyar A/C.Later on, he met the local artisans of Nungbi pottery and handloom cooperative society and praised the rich culture and traditions of the locals.

During his visit, the GOC was accompanied by Mrs Vineeta Sahni, Regional President AWWA, 3 Corps, who felicitated the local artists.

The event was also attended by Maj Gen U K Gurung, AVSM, YSM, IGAR (S) and Mrs Uma Gurung, President ARWWA, IGAR(S) .
