Imphal, November 12 2015:
Just because BJP suffered defeats in Bihar and Delhi, the party cannot be simply written off, asserted BJP State unit general secretary (administration) M Ashnikumar.
Speaking to media persons at their Nityaipat Chuthek office today, Ashnikumar reminded that BJP bagged 282 Lok Sabha seats in the Parliamentary election held last year.
After the Lok Sabha election, BJP won majority in the Assembly elections of Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Haryana and Jammu & Kashmir.
However, BJP could win very less seats in Delhi and Bihar.
Yet, this does not mean BJP can be written off from the electoral politics of the country.
Taking a cue from the results of the Assam civic body election, Ashnikumar claimed that BJP would emerge victorious and form a new Government in the neighbouring State after the Assembly election likely to be held in April/May next year.
Remarking that the Chief Minister, the Deputy Chief Minister and Congress Ministers have been acting as if they have genuine love for the people in the run up to the by-election to Thangmeiband AC and Thongju AC, Ashnikumar asked all the people not to trust them for they have done nothing for the two Assembly segments during the past 13 years.
He then appealed to all the electorate of the two Assembly segments to give an opportunity to open a new chapter of politics in Manipur.
By inviting former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and AICC president Sonia Gandhi to inaugurate incomplete projects like City Convention Centre, Sericulture Project, Assembly building, High Court building etc, the Congress party was only hoodwinking people of the State.
It is everybody's knowledge that more than 100 people were killed in the State between 2002 and 2012 in fake encounters.
Moreover, there were numerous cases of bomb blasts in Imphal which claimed many innocent lives.
This is a report card of the Congress Government, he asserted.
Petitions filed at Court against recruitment process of Constables is a clear testimony of lack of accountability on the part of the incumbent Government, he added.
