Rotary International donates computer sets to Children Home

Imphal, October 12 2024:
Rotary International District 3240 with the support of Rotary Club Imphal donated three computer sets at Punya Children Home, Thangmeiband today.
At the event, Devkumar Thoudam, Assistant Governor of Zone XII Rotary International District 3240 said that Rotary Club is one of the world's oldest service organisations, founded in 1905 by Paul Harris, a Chicago attorney.
He shared that Rotary International is focused on seven key areas including basic education and literacy.
"Under basic education and literacy, Rotary Club through its Rotary India Literacy Mission (RILM) has embarked upon one of the most comprehensive programs on Total Literacy and Quality Education", he added.
He continued that the Rotary club has also designed a comprehensive program called "T-E-A-C-H", where T stands for Teacher Support, E for E-learning, A for Adult Literacy, C for Child Development and H for Happy Schools.
He also mentioned that the computer sets were donated as part of Rotary International's effort to support the underprivileged children and help them adapt to the changing education system.
Further, Devkumar announced that Rotary Club Imphal will be honouring 16 selected teachers during a function scheduled to be held on October 31 at Rotary Multi Service Centre, Mantripukhri as part of its "Total Eradication of Illiteracy from India" mission.
