Fall Armyworm
Source: The Sangai Express
Imphal, June 12 2019:
A study conducted by ICAR Lamphel has found that Fall Armyworm, which extensively damaged maize plantations in the State last month, has the capacity to damage rice crops as well.
According to a source from ICAR Lamphel, scientists have found out that the pest also attacks the young leaves of rice crops and the State Government has also been updated on this matter as well.
Apart from taking up necessary initial preventive measures, it would also be wise to take up preventive steps after the rainfall like spraying of pesticides/chemicals so as to combat the pests, the source added.
