Imphal, December 11 2019:
The indefinite bandh on National Highways and tribal inhabited areas proposed to be imposed by All Tribal Rights Protection Forum Manipur (ATRPFM) and All Tribal Chief Forum Manipur (ATCFM) along with like-minded CSOs and public from December 16 has been temporarily suspended till 2nd week of January 2020 .
A press release from ATRPFM said that the proposed indefinite bandh is being suspended temporarily after consultation with several CSOs, ATRPFM and ATCFM considering the hardship to be faced by the Christian communities residing in Manipur, especially the tribal communities in view of the upcoming Christmas and New Year celebrations.
Reiterating that the recognition/creation of village in the hill areas should be carried out by the Hills Department, it cautioned that the proposed bandh will be imposed on all National Highways and tribal inhabited areas from 3rd week of January 2020, if the demand is not met.
