Imphal, December 11 2013:
Showing angst over alleged indifferent attitude of both the Manipur and Central Governments towards welfare policy for them, United Revolutionary Front (URF), which has recently signed Suspension of Operation (SoO) with the Governments to start peace parley, today threatened to return to jungle.
Talking to newsmen at the temporary designated camp of URF at Loitang Khunou Spinning Mill in Imphal West disrrict, the outfit's chairman Lalheiba Meitei said that the armed group has entered into the national mainstream after laying down arms as it believes in peace and stability.
It has also been maintaining the accord since the signing of pact with the Government.
However, the state and the Central Government have been violating the agreement and Chief Minister of Manipur has been trying to jeopardise the pact.
Lalheiba further alleged that the state Government has put the peace process at risk by ignoring the group's welfare policy, and informed that cadres of the outfit have not been given their monthly stipend regular, thus, leaving them in an awful condition.
He warned that URF could take a firm decision to get back to jungle soon, and in the event of such a decision, the Government should be held responsible.
The URP chairman further made it clear that the outfit has done nothing against the will of the people till now and announced that one of its cadre namely Phuritsabam Sonex, who was involved in a truck battery theft case, has been expelled from the group.
