Imphal, September 11 2021:
Students' Union of Waikhom Mani Girls' College has extended its full support to all agitations to be launched by AMSU with regard to non-disbursement of scholarships.
In a statement issued by its general secretary Oinam Thoithoibi Devi, the Union said that till date OBC students are made to face various inconvenience in trying to receive the scholarships given by the Minority and Other Backward Classes (MOBC) Department, Manipur and Minority and Tribal Affairs and Hills under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment due to irregular distribution.
Recently, various student bodies and college unions appealed to the Department concerned for disbursing the scholarship amount as soon as possible.
However, the prolonged delay and lackadaisical attitude of the department, which has been primarily set up for the welfare of the weaker sections of the society, has rendered the efforts of the government meaningless.
Questioning why the department is refusing to disburse the scholarships, the Union said that it will extend full support to AMSU which has issued a cautionary note on Friday to launch agitations if the Pre & Post Matric Scholarship is not disbursed within 15 days.
The Union also said that it will continue to extend support to all steps undertaken by AMSU for the welfare of the student community.
Similarly, LMS Law College Students' Union, Imphal and Kha Manipur College Students' Union, Kakching also announced full support to the AMSU's decision of launching agitation over non-disbursement of Pre & Post Matric Scholarship amount.
