Covid claims 10 more lives, 606 new cases crop up
Two fully, 62 partially vaccinated persons dead so far; vaccination rate slow

Imphal, August 11 2021: After registering single digit number of deaths for two days, the daily fatality count reached the double digit on Wednesday as government bulletins reported 10 death cases from Covid-19 .

Meanwhile, positivity rate saw a marginal drop on Wednesday with 606 new positive cases out of 4954 samples tested.

The positivity rate was registered at 12.23 per cent against 12.37 per cent recorded on Tuesday.

The active caseload has come down to 6857 out of which 2632 (38.38 per cent) are in home isolation, 2060 (30.04 per cent) in CHICs, 1249 (18.21 per cent! in CCCs and 916 (13.36 per cent) in hospitals.

Among the hospitalised patients, 134 are admitted to ICU/HDU wards, 372 are on oxygen support and 69 on ventilator support.

At the same time, 54 patients are also on oxygen support in different CCCs.

As of Wednesday evening, 2221 beds are available in different CCCs.

There is no updated information on government, private and district hospitals as well as CHCs.

However, as of Tuesday evening, 93 beds (27 ICU/HDU) are available in government hospitals, 136 beds (42 ICU/HDU) in private hospitals, 10 beds (4 ICU/HDU) in LFS Covid Treatment Centre run by MSF, and 169 beds (13 ICU/HDU) in district hospitals and CHCs.

So far, the state has recorded 76,630 positive cases and 1300 fatalities since the beginning of the second wave of the pandemic.

The current month saw an addition of 7531 hew cases and 118 fatalities out of which 4640 new cases and 68 fatalities were added in the last seven days alone.

According to official reports, all the 606 new cases (304 male & 302 female) are from among the general population and their samples were tested at RIMS (2l), JNIMS (24), District Hospitals (402) and other testing centres (159).The new patients are from Imphal East (89), Imphal West (267), Thoubal (29), Bishnupur (74), Kakching (24), Ukhrul (20), Churachandpur (46), Chandel (20), Senapati (5), Tamenglong (5), Tengnoupal (6), Jiribam (4), Noney (1), Pherzawl (9) and Kangpokpi (7).All necessary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.

The State Level Covid-19 Deaths Audit Committee reported 10 Covid-19 deaths in the last 24 hours but no age and gender information have been provided.

The district wise fatalities are Imphal West (3), Imphal East (3), Bishnupur (3) and Churachandpur (1).The cumulative number of deaths has reached 1674 .

Out of the 10 victims two did not have any co-morbid conditions, one had received first dose vaccine and one had second dose.

So far, 64 vaccinated persons have died and two of them have got full doses.

In the last 24 hours, 723 patients were discharged from home isolation (360), RIMS (30), JNIMS (7), CCCs (165) and CHICs (l61) .

The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 1,06,030 (general population - 1,01,969 and CAPF personnel - 4,061).Number of recovered cases is 97,499 (general population - 93,514 and CAPF personnel - 3,985) and number of active cases is 6,857 (general population - 6,786 and CAPF personnel - 71) .

The recovery rate is 91.95 per cent.

In the last 24 hours, 1873 D-type and 412 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities.

Even in the presence of central monitoring team to control the Covid-19 transmission chain, vaccination rate remains low.

Only 8151 vaccine doses were administered on Tuesday and the cumulative number of vaccinated people has reached 11,57,377 .

However, only 2,57,503 of them have got both doses of the vaccine against 3,09,896 eligible to get the second dose.

Meanwhile, 14 new positive cases were detected out of 102 samples tested from Tuesday 2 pm to Wednesday 2 pm in Kakching district.

One case was detected at Ema Hospital, five at Jivan Hospital and eight at government RAT sites.

All are residents of Kakching district, according to reports from DSO Kakching.

As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in differ ent districts are Imphal West (35,614), Imphal East (23,732), Thoubal (8734), Churachandpur (9042), Kangpokpi (2475), Tamenglong (2906), Bishnupur (8000), Senapati (1936), Ukhrul (1897), Kakching (5847), Chandel (2077), Noney (931), Tengnoupal (993), Jiribam (970), Kamjong (606) and Pherzawl (270).Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (564), Imphal East (398), Thoubal (151), Churachandpur (144), Kangpokpi (54), Tamenglong (12), Bishnupur 163), Senapati (6), Ukhrul |2ll, Kakching (103), Chandel '311, Noney (4), Tengnoupal (12), Jiribam (7), Kamjong (4) and Pherzawl (0) .

However, the figure does not match with data released by CMOs and DSOs of some districts.

Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 34,170 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 22,976 CPM.

Test rate has improved to 3,67.879 tests per million population against the national average of 3,47,708 TPM.

Case fatality rate stands at 1.58 per cent.

In the past 24 hours, 4954 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 12.23 per cent while the cumulative positivity rate rose to 9.29 per cent.
