Imphal-Hojai Winger service begins

Imphal, February 11 2015:
Winger Manipur Association, Imphal and Ema Keithel Lairembi Lup, Hojai on Wednesday jointly launched Imphal-Hojai Tata Winger transport service.
The maiden Imphal-Hojai Winger service was flagged off from North AOC by the Secretary of United Committee Manipur (UCM) Joy Konthoujam.
Speaking on the occasion, UCM Secretary said that the transport service between Imphal and Hojai would help to connect the people of Manipur with their diasporas in Hojai (Assam) .
Moreover, the transport service would benefit the state in terms of trade and commerce.
Turmeric powder which is priced at Rs.200 per kg in the state costs only Rs.40 in Hojai, while cabbage costs only Rs.4 per kg there as against Rs.20 in Imphal, Joy noted.
M Shantibasu of Ema Keithel Lairembi Lup said that the newly launched Winger service would benefit the people of both Manipur and Hojai.
Earlier, there was no proper transport service that could connect the Manipuris of Hojai with their fellow brothers and sisters in Manipur.
He also thanked Winger Manipur Association and various civil society organizations of the state for their endeavour of starting Imphal-Hojai transport service.
