Imphal, April 10 2022:
Reacting strongly against Union home minister Amit Shah's recent announcement that Hindi language will be made compulsory subject till class X in eight north eastern states, the proscribed group People's Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK) said the decision taken by a Parliamentary Committee was an open warfare to completely uproot indigenous communities of the WESEA region.
According to a PREPAK statement, the 37th meet of Parliamentary Official Lan guage Committee was held on April 7 at New Delhi and took several decisions.
While highlighting some of key de cisions taken during the meet, Union home minister Amit Shah announced just after end of the meet that Hindi will be made compulsory till class X in eight north eastern states and Hindi examinations will be given special attention.
He also mentioned that 22,000 Hindi teachers have been recruited in the region besides converting nine dialects spoken by tribal communities of NE into Devnagari script.
Amit Shah also highlighted importance of Hindi as official language of India for unity and to make it lingua franca of the country and further appealed people coming from different states to communicate in Hindi instead of English.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi too had stated that Hindi should be medium of job recruitment in the country and 70 per cent of Central cabinet's agenda has been made in Hindi language and recommended publication Hindi dictionary with different local languages.
Central government's plan, however, is being opposed by different states particularly in south India and termed the policy as not only against federal principle but also dishonour of other languages.
These states also warned that they would not remain silent if the Union government tries to forcibly impose Hindi and called upon non-Hindi states to launch strong protest, the PREPAK Statement issued by publicity & propaganda charge de' affair Leibaak Ngaakpa Luwang said.
India is compelled to take up economic or market expansion and cultural imposition to realise 'One nation, one religion, one culture, one language' dream of mainland Indians who want 'Akhand Bharat' under their dominance.
When their plan is being implemented, languages spoken by minority indigenous communities inhabiting in hills of WESEA region will be extinct first and then lingua franca currently being used in Kangleipak too will be completely replaced by Hindi.
When indigenous languages left by forefathers of the land are extinct and people are forced to communicate in Hindi, the region will be India's complete captive market and no one can prevent this.
To be contd... .
