Culprits involved in illegal felling of Pine trees arrested

Thoubal, May 09 2018:
A joint team of BO Sikhong and Nongpok Sekmai police arrested two individuals for allegedly cutting down vast number of Pine trees from Gwarok Maring under Gwarok Reserve Forest, today.
20 pine logs along with a Tata truck (regd no MN02A-8427) were also seized from them near Aripat area.
According to source, the individuals have been identified as Khaote Angamla and Chamneilin Suam from Kamuching in Nongpok Keithelmanbi.
The source further maintained, after receiving an information about illegal felling of trees in Gwarok Maring village , a team of BO Sikhong and his staff (under the directive of DFO Thoubal) has been trying to arrest the culprits but eventually failed as they could not enter Gwarok Maring village.
However, with assistance from Nongpok Sekmai police, the culprits pulled up from outside the village near Aripat area.
A statement of DFO Thoubal, RK Amarjit expressed dissatisfaction over repeated cutting of trees in illegal and prohibited area although the matter has been deliberated and discussed in the State Assembly.
He appealed all not to repeat such actions in the future.
