Union appeals for pay hike

The Thoubal District Cook Union has urged the State Government to discuss their long-pending demand for an increase in their monthly honorarium at the ongoing Assembly session.
Cooks engaged in Government schools under the Mid Day Meal Scheme took out a protest rally today.
Speaking by the sideline of the protest, Kangabam Malaya, representative of the All Manipur Mid-Day Meal Workers' Union, Thoubal District Branch expressed dissatisfaction with the paltry sum of Rs 1000 paid as monthly honorarium to cooks employed under the Mid Day Meal Scheme.
Even this small amount has not been released for the last 15 months.
Thus, she urged the concerned authority to release the unpaid honorarium.
Additionally, demanding a pay hike, she urged the State Government to pay the cooks a monthly honorarium of Rs 10,000 .
The Deputy Commissioner Thoubal has also been notified about the grievances of the Thoubal district cooks.
She further urged the State Government to discuss their long unresolved issues at the ongoing monsoon Assembly session.
