Committee urges Govt to develop Jiri roads

Imphal, April 08 2013:
UJK Road Development Committee has drawn the attention of state government to the deplorable condition of the roads connecting Uchathol, Jairolpokpi and Kashimpur villages under Jiribam sub-division, Imphal East.
In connection with its demand for development of the roads, the Committee had served an ultimatum giving 15 days' time to the state government for taking up necessary measures.
However, as the Government has not given any response within the stipulated time, after a meeting, the committee formed by representatives of three villages, blocked the on 14th March last.
However, it was lifted after local MLA and Minister Th Debendra assured to develop the roads.
But the assurance has not been kept, Y Romen Singh, Convenor of the Committee said in a statement.
The Committee has once again urged the authority concerned of the state government for developing the roads in considering of the suffering of the people.
In the meantime, the committee has also thanked the railway companies for taking up initiative for improving the road for the betterment of local residents.
