Training programme on commodity futures market

Directorate of Extension Education, Central Agricultural University (CAU), Iromsemba inaugurated a 2-day training programme on 'commodity futures market' at its Assembly Hall on Thursday.
Stating that commodity futures market is the assets that have intrinsic values in future, Chief Guest of the function and Assistant Managing Director, National Multi- Commodity Exchange of India Ltd., Ahmedabad Dinesh Shukla, urged all the extension functionaries to educate farmers about latest developments in the field of agricultural sciences and researches so as to implement it timely and effectively.
Guests of Honour of the function and Dean of CAU, Dr N Iboton Singh pointed out that marketing is one of the key problem for farmers in Manipur and the only solution to the problem is commodity futures market.
Director of Extension Education, CAU, Dr M Premjit who presided over the function, said that farmers could increase the level of agricultural production if they properly utilize all the advanced technologies.
In order to solve the problems confronting by the farmers in Manipur, CAU would send a team of KVK officials consisting around 13-14 members to consult and mitigate the problem.
He also informed that CAU would distribute 100 metric tonne of quality seedlings to farmers in the state in early 2013 .
Guests of Honour of the function and Directorate of Research, CAU Dr Rohinikumar, highlighted various aspects of agricultural researches conducted by the university.
A total number of 52 delegates from agricultural, sericulture, agriculture and Krishi Vigyan Kendras attended the two days long training program.
Packaging, storing, marketing, research and packaging of agricultural products would be the main aspect of the training programme.
