Chief Minister distributes school uniforms

Chief minister N Biren Singh on Friday distributed school uniforms for free to underprivileged students of different schools.
The Free Uniforms Distribution Function was organised by Samagra Shiksha, Manipur at its office located at Babupara.
During the programme, two set of uniforms were provided to all girl students, and children belonging to SC/ST7BPL families studying in government schools up to class VIII.
The number of students eligible for receiving free school uniforms for the current financial year is 1,41,445 including 72,407 girls belonging to ST, 2831 boys belonging to SC and 26,232 boys from BPL families.
Speaking on the occasion, CM Biren informed that the government had always maintained transparency in any development work taken up in the state.
He added booklets containing information of schemes introduced for the welfare of people were published to make people aware of the said schemes.
Stating that providing better education is one of the priorities of the government, he added that free school uniforms and books are provided to all girls and children belonging to Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes and Below Poverty Line Families in Government Schools up to class VIII.
Such an initiative would ensure access to better education by children of poor families, he expressed.
Regarding the recent surge of COVID-19 cases in some states, Biren informed that state government had issued a notification making it mandatory for anyone entering the state to carry negative COVID-19 RTPCR test reports done within 48 hours of arrival into the state.
He continued that the notification might cause inconvenience to those entering the state, however, it has been issued for the safety of its people.
He appealed to the public to maintain COVTD Appropriate Behaviour at all times to prevent from getting infected.
Mentioning that Manipur had witnessed certain developments in all sectors during the last five years, he informedthat government had also chalked out plans to develop RCC roads in Greater Imphal areas and other District Headquarters to make it durable and sought constructive suggestions from the public on the same.
In his address, education minister S Rajen stated that certain development works had been taken up in education sector under the supervision of the chief minister.
The enrolment rate in government schools has gone up considerably after the introduction of the School Fagathansi Mission, he said and maintained that the government has been making all efforts to take education sector to new heights.
Member of Parliament Leishemba Sanajaoba, Education commissioner M Harekrishna, director and SPD Samagra Shiksha L Nandakumar, ASPD of Samagra Shiksha T Phulen, officials of Education department, teachers and students of different schools attended the programme among others.
