State records 14 fatalities, 742 new cases

Imphal, August 06 2021:
The state on Friday reported 14 new death cases and 742 new positive cases of Covid-19 out of 5055 samples tested, thus registering a positivity rate of 14.68 per cent against 14.35 per cent on Thursday.
The active caseload, however, has come down to 8367 after the discharge of 1047 patients.
Out of the active cases, 3337 (39.88 per cent) patients are in home isolation, 2518 (30.09 per cent) in CHICs, 1569 (18.75 per cent) in CCCs and 943 (11.27 per cent) in hospitals.
Among the hospitalised patients, 143.are admitted to ICU/HDU wards, with 360 of them on oxygen support and 69 on ventilator support.
At the same time, 78 patients are also on oxygen support in different CCCs.
As of Thursday evening, 248 beds including 53 ICU/HDU beds are available in different private hospitals including Iland Hospital and LFS Covid Treatment Centre run by MSF, and 2017 beds in different CCCs.

RIMS has 82 beds including 20 ICU/ HDU beds and JNIMS has no vacant beds while different district hospitals and CHCs have 164 beds including 13 ICU/HDU beds available as of Wednesday evening.
So far, the state has recorded 73,489 positive cases and 1254 fatalities since the beginning of the second wave of the pandemic, out of which 5191 new cases and 87 fatalities were added in the last seven days alone.
The current month saw addition of 4390 new cases and 72 fatalities.
According to official reports, the 742 new cases included 688 people (335 male & 353 female) from among the general population and 54 personnel of Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) .
Their samples were tested at RIMS (21), JNIMS (77), District Hospitals (486) and other testing centres (158).The positive cases from among the general population are from Imphal East (141), Imphal West (235), Thoubal (31), Bishnupur (50), Kakching (34), Ukhrul (8), Churachandpur (88), Chandel (19), Senapati (14), Tamenglong ((7), Tengnoupal (7), Noney 2), Pherzawl (40), Kamjong 6) and Kangpokpi (6).All necessary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.
The State Level Covid-19 Deaths Audit Committee reported 14 Covid-19 deaths in the last 24 hours but no age and gender information have been provided.
The districtwise fatalities are Imphal West (4), Imphal East (5), Thoubal (2), Bishnupur (1) and Kakching (2).The cumulative number of deaths has reached 1628.Out of the 14 victims, five had no co-morbidities and five had received first dose of Covid vaccine.
In the last 24 hours, 1047 patients were discharged from home isolation (434), RIMS (29), JNIMS (15), CCCs (229) and CHICs (340) .
The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 102,889 (general population - 98,836 and CAPF personnel - 4,053).Number of recovered cases is 92,894 (general population - 88,939 and CAPF personnel - 3,955) and number of active cases is 8,367 (general population - 8,274 and CAPF personnel - 93).The recovery rate is 90.28 per cent.
In the last 24 hours, 1722 D-type and 311 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities.
Vaccination process is witnessing a slowdown in the past few days and only 8496 vaccine doses were administered on Thursday after which the cumulative number of vaccinated individuals has reached 11,34,815.However, the cumulative number of fully vaccinated individuals is only 2,33,708 against 2,82,958 people who are eligible for receiving the second dose.
Meanwhile, Kakching district witnessed a sudden drop in new Covid cases as only 13 new positive cases were detected out of 196 samples tested from Thursday 2 pm to Friday 2 pm, thus registering only 0.66 per cent positivity rate.
One case was detected at Ema Hospital, three at Jivan Hospital and nine at government RAT sites.
All are residents of Kakching district.
For the district, 116 cases detected out of 560 samples tested from July 14, 2 pm to July 15, 2 pm was the highest number of daily new case recorded during the second wave of the pandemic, according to reports from DSO Kakching.
As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (34,389), Imphal East (23,047), Thoubal (8577), Churachandpur (8799), Kangpokpi (2445), Tamenglong (2865), Bishnupur (7648), Senapati (1876), Ukhrul (1828), Kakching (5746), Chandel (2020), Noney (852), Tengnoupal (982), Jiribam (963), Kamjong (602) and Pherzawl (250).Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (551), Imphal East (386), Thoubal (150), Churachandpur (141), Kangpokpi (53), Tamenglong (12), Bishnupur (153), Senapati (6), Ukhrul (21), Kakching (99), Chandel (31), Noney (4), Tengnoupal (10), Jiribam (7), Kamjong (4) and Pherzawl (0) .
However, the figure does not match with data released by CMOs and DSOs of some districts.
Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 33,158 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 22,859 CPM.
Test rate has improved to 3,60,268 tests per million population against the national average of 3,41,643 TPM.
Case fatality rate stands at 1.58 per cent.
In the past 24 hours, 5055 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 14.68 per cent while the cumulative positivity rate rose to 9.20 per cent.
