VCI clarifies on Church construction

Imphal, July 06 2013 : The Victory Church, Imphal and Manipur Pastoral Development Fellowship have clarified that the construction site of a Church at Kongpal Naoroibam is neither meant for the Umang Lai (local deity) nor for the ritual of Kongba Laithong Phaatpa.

Addressing media persons at the office of Manipur Pastoral Development Fellowship, Chingmeirong here today, Rev K Shyam said that the demolition of Church by the locals of Kongpal was an illegal act against the Constitution of India.

The claim, that the site is a place for historical monument, is also unfounded and baseless with no official document.

The Church is being constructed 900 metres away from the road, he noted.

Rev Shyam further appealed to the people not to cause any disturbance to construction of the Church in future.
