PFA rescues animals, birds

Members of People for Animals (PFA), Thoubal have rescued a beautiful green pigeon commonly known as Thick billed Green pigeon from Awang Sekmai in Imphal East today.
Khwairakpam Baljit of Awang Sekmai, who is geologist at NHPC found the bird at the back of his house.
The pigeon that got an injury on its wing is being treated at PFA shelter, a statement of PFA Thoubal informed.
One young Bengal Monitor lizard was also handed over to the PFA by Samandram Sharatchandra and Samandram Samananda of Thoubal Haokha Heibi Makhong, who found it near their house, the statement said while adding that one of front limbs of the lizard was found imputed.
PFA lalso could rescue a severely injured Bengal slow Loris from Thoubal Athokpam.

One Hijam Ingocha and Hijam Samananda of the area handed over the animal to Leimapokpam Bimol, Asst.
Public prosecutor-JMIC Thoubal who in turn handed the animal to PFA.
It however succumbed to its injury, the statement informed.
In another rescue, one Cuckoo (a kind of bird) was handed over to PFA by Hijam Jamuna, councillor, ward no.1 Thoubal Municipal council, who found the bird near her house on a rainy day.
It was released back to the wild.
Furthermore, the PFA statement informed that one Indian Nightjar (a kind of bird) was rescued from Sagolband Moirang Leirak.
One Akham Bhogendro handed over the bird after he found it inside his garage.
The tail feather of the bird was found snipped off.
The specialty of this bird is that it could camouflage among dry leaves or barks due to its colour and shape, the statement added.
