PFA celebrates World Animal Day, 3rd Foundation Day

Joining the global celebration of World Animal Day 2014 and observing its 3rd Foundation Day, the People for Animals (PFA) Thoubal organized a grand function at Karang primary School, at Karang Island of Loktak Lake in Bishnupur, said a release of PFA, Thoubal.
Participated by local leaders, local youth clubs, meira paibis and students of various schools of Karang, the programme disseminated information on the importance of wildlife to the participants by using audio visual aids.
The celebration was graced by Heisnan Ningthem, Member, Ward no.3 Thanga part-1 GP as chief guest; Salam Athoiba Meitei, Member, Ward no-2, Thanga part-1 GP, Oinam Satyabati Devi Member Ward no-1, Thanga part-1 GP and Sub-Inspector Ningthoujam Sobha OC-in- charge Karang Police station, Salam Ibohal Head master, Karang PS and Nk.
Sub TB Pradhan 6th AR (Post commander Karang Post) attended as Guests of honour.
3rd 'Greet our Guest' campaign aiming at protecting the migratory birds which arrive in the state during this winter, was also reactivated by the dignitaries present.
Karang is one of site where migratory water birds rest, breeds or feeds.
The celebration was registered to the international body, World Animal Day Organisation (United Kingdom) recognized by the UN.
To mark the event, six Malayan Box turtles rescued from various parts of the state were relocated at the Loktak Lake.
Turtles are known for their role of keeping water bodies clean by consuming dead and decaying plants and animals from the water.
This event will redefine the importance of Loktak lake and its aquatic animals.
