Three non-locals with forged ID proofs pulled up

At a time when collective demand for implementation of Inner Line Permit System in the State to safeguard the indigenous people is going on in full swing, three non-locals who tried to enter Sekmaijin Thongkhong area with forged voter cards and driving licenses were pulled up by volunteers of Sekmaijin Popular Club (SPC) around 11.30 am today.
The three non-locals are identified as Santosh Singh s/o Palak Singh; Dhamendrakumar s/o Chandeshwar Singh and Vikashkumar s/o Naren Singh.
All three are in the age group of 25-30 years and engage in repairing cooking gas and cooker.
They are residents of Champaram district, Bihar but presently staying in a rented house belonging to one advocate Bashir Khan of Mantripukhri.
The trio was paraded in the office of Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit (JCILPS) in presence of a media team this evening.
Speaking on the occasion, , Loitam Abothe, co-convener of JCILPS Students' Wing informed that the committee started a massive drive to verify non-locals staying in different parts of the State without proper identification documents and pointed out that the incident of pulling up of the three non-locals by volunteers of SPC is a clear reminder for the need of implementation of ILP system without any further delay.
He informed that out of the three non-locals, Santosh Singh and Dhamendrakumar were found possessing Xerox copy of forged voter cards and driving licenses issued by District Transport Officer, Imphal East while Vikashkumar was found without any ID proof.
The forged driving licenses which look little larger in size than the original ones were prepared by a tribal at Chingmeirong after charging Rs 400/500 from the non-locals, he disclosed.
Taking strong exception to the possessing of forged identification documents by the non-locals, he cautioned that appropriate action will be initiated against those individuals who issued the forged driving licenses to the non-locals.
