ZUF reiterates stand, hits out at 'greed-based leaders'

Imphal, June 02 2021: While putting the blame on 'greedbased leaders' for the 'much disturbances caused to the general public', Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) has made an appeal for understanding of its 'inner conviction and obligation' that motivates the Front to sacrifice for the welfare of Zeliangrong and its kindred tribes.

In a press release issued Wednesday, ZUF said all the unfortunate deaths and mishaps causing much disturbances to the general public are directly or indirectly the consequences of unscrupulous and greed-based leaders.

The defected cadres of ZUF which had merged to NSCN-U on October 26, 2019 have been creating much public nuisance and antipathy, causing loss of precious lives.

It has triggered public anger and displeasure over the unabated criminal activities and incited hatred and resentment among the communities.

They are a confused group coercing the public shamelessly and tarnishing the good image of the ZUF from which they defected, ZUF said.

Such leaders/group must be diligently watched and denounced if the society is to progress and prosper in peace and development, the Front said, adding that it opens its door for 'whoever is prompted by true sense of realization'.

"Any adverse situation that may arise for not heeding to our bidding, the Front shall not be held responsible nor be tolerated if the front is taken to be wrongly implicated," ZUF declared.

It then appealed to "all concerned Zelian- grong and kindred Tribes leaders, CSOs and general public to understand our inner conviction and obligation that motivates us to take this hard risky and sacrificial step all for the total benefit and welfare of all the Zeliangrong and its kindred tribes" .

"We believe that we shall gain our political freedom and progress if we don't give up but strive on together towards the struggle; we have been front-lining for a decade now.

We shall move together even closer to visualize our common vision, interest and aspiration to be attained at the earliest no matter how obscure or hard our struggle may appear.

We shall not give up our struggle or give in to the politics of opposing forces under any circumstances," ZUF added.
