Imphal, June 02 2018: A workshop on "Open Defecation Free Attaining State" was organised by Communication & Capacity Development Unit, PHED, Manipur in association with Manipur State Panchayat Parishad (MSPP) at Manipur Panchayat Bhawan; Porompat today.

The workshop which was organised for ODF Panchayat functionaries or Pradhans of Manipur were attended by MSPP president Md Abdul Latif as chief guest, Communication & Capacity Development Unit Director H Ibotombi as president and PHED Additional Chief Engineer L Swamikanta Singh and PHED SE (Rural circle I) H Bigadhon Singh as guests of honour respectively.

Speaking on the occasion, Additional Chief Engineer, L Swamikanta Singh motivated the public gathered at the workshop to join hands, cooperate and work hard in ensuring the presence of a toilet at every household before October 2 this year so that the open defecation free State status is attained on October 2.He urged those who did not built a proper toilet to have a toilet and also urged them to refrain from defecating in open areas.

The Pradhans as well as the locals should also assist in raising awareness about the right way to built a toilet and make sure to maintain cleanliness.

Later, an interaction session was also held with the Pradhans and officials.
