Kid succumbs to Covid, 10 test positive in Ukhrul

In a latest Covid-related casualty in Ukhrul district, a seven-year-old boy reportedly succumbed to the viral disease in a private hospital here on Sunday.
The deceased minor, a Covid patient, has been identified as a resident of Hangou village.
He reportedly died of Covid complications at Leishiphung Christian Hospital in the town.
The district magistrate subsequently issued permission for transportation of the body to enable the family to perform the last rites of the deceased on the same day.
With this, death toll due to Covid, has reached 26, including those who died outside the district in the current second wave of the pandemic.
Meanwhile, the daily positivity rate continued to surge in the district with 10 fresh cases detected on Sunday.
Indicating a steady upward trend, the tally of active cases has reached 98, from around 50 in the past week.
Another 10 patients were discharged on the same day, an official source informed, adding that the total cumulative number of positive cases currently stands at 933.A total of 23 cases have been referred out of the district so far.
Of the active cases, 50 patients are being lodged at the district's transit camp, 33 at UDH Isolation Ward, 13 at Ukhrul Higher Secondary School CHIC, and one each at Litan CHIC and Mayophung CHIC respectively, the source said.
