Imphal, June 01 2014: A one-day legal awareness programme on women's rights was organized by All Manipur Muslim (Meitei-Pangal) Welfare Association in collaboration with Manipur State Legal Service Authority at Girls' Hostel Complex, Hatta here today.

The programme was attended by District & Sessions Judge, Manipur East A Guneshwar Sharma as Chief Guest and President of All Manipur Muslim (Meitei-Pangal) Welfare Association MA Janab Khan as President, while Chief Judicial Magistrate of Imphal Easr A Nouteneshwori and retired IAS officer Helim Choudhury attended as Guests of Honour.

Speaking as a resource person of the awareness programme, Director of Prosecutions Ngangom Tejkumar said that increasing cases of cyber crime in the State is a matter of serious concern for the women.

The women of the State are already facing myriad cases of crime and violence.

It is high time for all to join hands to curb increasing crime and violence against women in the State, he added.

Another resource person Advocate Abdul Kalam highlighted various aspects of the Indian law which guarantees protection of women's rights.
