Mirabai pledges to clean up Social Welfare Department

Imphal, June 01 2013 : Affirming that the welfare of a society lies in the welfare of people, Social Welfare Minister Ak Mirabai has pledged to streamline the functioning of the Social Welfare Department by rectifying all irregularities as soon as possible.

Mirabai was speaking as Chief Guest of the Golden Jubilee Celebration of Young Progressive Club, Takyel Kolom Leikai here today.

She said that the Social Welfare Department would soon become a distinguished department working for the welfare and development of the people.

Mirabai further stated that the government cannot alone implement all development works, and so people should also play active roles in monitoring and expediting the works.

Emphasizing on the need to revive cooperative movement in the State, Social Welfare Minister said that the Cooperative Society Act, 1976 would be amended by taking up the matter for discussion in the coming Assembly session.

She also appealed to the youths to work dedicatedly for the welfare and upliftment of the society. The Golden Jubilee Celebration was also attended by the President of Youth Progressive Club L Hemanta, Member of Takyel Z/P A Manimala and proprietor of MIS Brick Field M Ibotombi.

A souvenir was also released by Minister Ak Mirabai on the occasion.
