MCPCR issues notice to LFS for expelling 2 girls

Imphal, October 31 2015 :
Manipur Commission for Protection of Child Rights (MCPCR) on Saturday issued an interim order staying the expulsion of two girl students (Class �VII) studying in Little Flower School (LFS) by the Headmistress October 28, after recovery of a piece of paper inscribed " I love you Heri" from one of the girl students.
MCPCR has also directed the LFS authority to allow the girl students to attend their classes from Monday (November 2) .
According to a press note issued by Human Rights Law Network (HRLN), the mothers of the two students filed a joint complaint before MCPCR, Imphal stating alia that their daughters went to the school as usual through their school van.
During their second period, their Computer teacher did not come to class and the substitute teacher checked the school bag of one of the two girls and found a piece of paper inscribed "I love you Heri".
As a result of the recovery, the two students were expelled and asked them to come on the next day along with their parents, said HRLN.
On October 29, at around 9.30 am, both the mothers went to the School along with their daughters.
After reaching the school, they were compelled to put their signature on a register after making it known them that the school authority expelled their daughters on the condition that the school authority would issue transfer certificates at the end of the academic year.
The mothers had been informed that the students would not be allowed to join normal classes.
However, they would be allowed to appear in the annual promotion examination for Class-VII to be commenced from November 30 .
After hearing submission of the counsel for the complainants advocate Meihoubam Rakesh, the commission ordered that the expelling the two students "shall not be given effect to." The commission further ordered that the complainants should obtain a copy of the commission's order and present it to the school at 8 am on November 2 along with their daughters.
In the event of making the appearance, the school authority should allow the two students to attend their classes as usual.
Further the commission has asked the LFS authority on appear before it November 9 to present their stand on the matter.
