The State Level Kut Committee is all set to organise this year's edition of Kut, an autumn festival of the Kuki-Chin-Mizo groups that marks the ending of the harvest season, with pomp and gaiety tomorrow at the 1st Manipur Rifles parade ground here.
"Everything is geared up to celebrate Kut 2014," said Chunglenmang, a spokesperson for the State Level Kut Committeeon Friday.
One of the key highlights of the Kut festival is the Miss Kut, a beauty pageant participated by contestants from every communities of the state.
Kut which is also a festival of merrymaking has slowly evolved as a way of garnering peace, harmony, friendship, and forging new ties among the different communities of Manipur.
Chunglenmang said all invitees coming to participate in the festival at the 1st Manipur Rifles ground should park their vehicles at the Bengali High School ground, Babupara while for the invited cultural troupes parking has been arranged at the Jail road.
All VVIPs who are attending the event have been requested to park their vehicles inside the venue, he added.
He added that the morning session of the celebration will be attended by Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam as chief guest while Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh will join in the evening part as chief guest.
Asked whether the Kut organising committee has taken a decision on the threat by the Editors' Guild, Manipur to stay away from the Kut celebration over the invitation to a section of media on the occasion by the committee, Chunglenmang simply said, "We've arranged limited seats" .
Notably, the Editors' Guild, Manipur (EGM) during an emergency meeting yesterday strongly condemned the State Level Kut Committee for inviting a few media houses to the celebration, appealing to the organisers to extend the invitation to all media houses without prejudice.
EGM also threatened that this year's State level Kut festival would not be covered if the development of extending press invitation to selective media continues.
