963 vehicles leave for Jiri, handyman dies in mishap

Imphal, August 31 2011:
Nine hundred and sixty three vehicles including trucks, oil tankers and passenger buses left Imphal via NH 53 to Jiribam and Silchar to procure goods and pick up passengers with tight security arrangements provided by the state government.
The huge numbers of vehicles have been transported with tight security arrangements led by Imphal West SDPO, Modhunimai.
The vehicles which were lined up in a long queue starting from Patsoi to Keithelmanbi left Imphal around 1pm this afternoon.
The vehicles include103 oil tankers, 14 LPG bullets, six passenger buses and 6 Tata Sumo and other empty trucks.
Meanwhile an empty truck (MN01/4953) which left Imphal this afternoon along with other vehicles met with an accident at Samkaijam in Noney in which the handyman of the ill fated truck died at the spot and the driver sustained injuries.
The deceased has been identified as one Saikhom Bimol (40) currenetly residing at Thangmeiband.
The driver is one Kh Inao of Lamphel Sana Keithel.
The owner of the truck is one H Nabakumar from Uripok.
