Mark Haokip planned Kuki Country: IGP Themthing

Mark T Haokip was found attempting to set up an "Independent Hill Country/Kuki Country", IGP Zone-I Ihemthing Ngasangva informed the media on Tuesday.
Addressing a press meet held at the conference hall of SP Imphal West, IGP Ihemthing said that Mark T Haokip (37) s/o Limkhosei Haokip of Molnom village, Churachandpur district was found planning to establish an "Independent Hill Country/Kuki Country" .
He is the self-styled president of 'Government of The People's Democratic Republic of Kukiland', whose goal is to establish a Kuki nation.
A website domain has also been recovered along with a press release, clearly defining the agenda of the outfit.
In this regard, Imphal police had registered an FIR no 129(05)2022 u/s 120-B/121/121-AZ 123/400 of IPC and u/s 17/18 of UA(P) Act against Mark on Monday.
The IGP further informed that the state police had brought self-styled president Mark T Haokip from Delhi to Manipur on May 27 .
Police had recovered various incriminating documents from his (Mark) possession including a personal diary Dr Mark Haokip sent to police custody P 6 containing sensitive materials, two pen drives, one laptop, one IHRA round seal, one IHRA president line seal, one general secretary line seal, and one IHRA Indo-Myanmar and Indo-Bangladesh director line seal.
All of the said items have been sent to forensic for further investigation.
Stating that members of Government of The People's Democratic Republic of Kukiland' carried out a propaganda war on social media platforms under the guise of a human rights group, IGP Themthing Ngasangva also revealed that the outfit sought to sow seeds of discord amongst the people.
The police are further investigating the matter in detail, while Mark T Haokip has been remanded to police custody for 5 days on Tuesday.
The other members of the outfit will soon be arrested as well, the IGP added.
