Imphal, May 31 2011:
A medical team of the 37 Assam Rifles saved life of a girl who attempted suicide by ingesting poison yesterday in wee hours.
Relatives and villagers of Joupi village brought her in a critical unresponsive state to Unit Hospital, 37 Assam Rifles.
The medical officer immediately administered decontamination in form of Gastric lavage and counter effects of poison.
After few hours of intensive resuscitation she started responding to treatment and was saved from detrimental poisoning.
Meanwhile, a medical team of 30 Assam Rifles saved the life of a man bitten by a venomous snake yesterday.
The victim, Sagolsem Herojit Singh (51) of Lamlong Bazar was brought to the Unit Hospital in a critical condition.
The victim was immediately attended by the medical officer who administered life saving anti snake venom.
Immediate medical intervention saved the life of the victim, a statement of the IGAR(S) said.
