Imphal, February 28 2025: Over 100 firearms, ammunition and other military items were voluntarily surrendered by the public in Thoubal, Imphal West, Imphal East, Bishnupur, and Kangpokpi districts in the last couple of days.

On Friday, in response to the appeal of the Governor along with the appeal made by Thoubal SP Dr S Ibomcha Singh three .303 rifles with two magazines, and one 36 HE grenade were surrendered to the SP and his team.

In Imphal West district, one SMC Carbine with two magazines, one double-barrel gun, one modified .303 rifle with magazine, one AK-47 rifle with three magazines, three stun grenades, 20 hand grenades, 21 tube launchers, four detonators, one tube launching projector, 12 INSAS rounds, 21 AK rounds, 13 rounds of .303 rifle, 33 SLR rounds, one DBBL cartridge, one SLR magazine, nine bulletproof jackets, three bulletproof plates, two belts, two magazine pouches, one cap, one muffler, one pair of shoes, three pairs of hand gloves, four camouflage items, and two patka helmets were surrendered at Sekmai police station on Wednesday.

At Mayang Imphal PS the same day, two SBBL guns, one country-made SBBL gun, one INSAS magazine, seven rounds of 7.62mm SLR, 16 rounds of 5.56mm INSAS, one AK round, an assorted ammunition, two patkas, four bulletproof vests, and four plates were surrendered.

At Lamsang PS, three .303 rifles with magazines, one INSAS LMG magazine, 110 casings, 20 rounds of 5.56mm and 24 of 7.62mm, two Baofeng wireless sets with two chargers, 10 hand grenades, four detonators, four tube launchers, nine tube launching rings, one illumination round, one smoke round, one tear smoke grenade, 15 bulletproof plates with five vests, and eight bulletproof helmets were handed over.

One carbine with magazine, one .303 rifle with magazine, two handheld Baofeng sets, 38 rounds of .303, five rounds of 9mm, 37 drill cartridges, one fired bullet, 13 fibre helmets, one patka, two bulletproof vest covers with two plates, and one 7.62 mm ammunition pouch were surrendered at the Kadangband post of 2nd Manipur Rifles.

Additionally four SLR rifles with 12 magazines, four .303 rifles with two magazines, one INSAS rifle with nine magazines, one carbine with two magazines, one 2-inch mortar with two shells, 10 bulletproof plates, two magazine pouches, three bulletproof vests, 108 rounds of 7.62mm, one scope, five handheld radio sets, one charger, one adaptor, six slings, and one tube launching shell were also surrendered at the 2nd MR post, all of which were later handed over to Lamsang PS, where one SBBL gun with four 12-bore cartridges, three stun grenades, and four tear smoke grenades were also surrendered.

At Singjamei PS, one SLR rifle with magazine, one .303 MKIII rifle with magazine, two SBBL guns, three SLR rounds, two 36 HE hand grenades, 12 bulletproof jackets, nine helmets, 17 bulletproof plates, 14 gas gun shells, 28 shotgun cartridge shells, one green smoke grenade, two .303 rifle foresights, six walkie-talkie sets with four chargers, one scope, and one shield were handed over.

In Imphal East district, a country-made rifle marked as K23, two single-barrel guns, seven rounds of 12-bore, six helmets, and two bulletproof jackets without plates were handed over to Irilbung PS.

At Heingang PS, authorities received a modified .363 rifle with magazine, a country-made sniper, a .22 revolver, an INSAS magazine, five bulletproof light fibres with green covers, two bulletproof iron plates in black and camouflage, seven headgear lights, a riot headgear, and various types of ammunition, including 10 rounds of .22 ammunition, 12 of .38 revolver, six of .45, 63 rounds of AK, nine sniper 30.06 spring ammunition, 19 rounds of 8mm, one of 7.62mm ammunition, and five M16 ammunition.

Additionally, one Pompi cartridge, one HD ballistic cartridge, seven stun empty cases, a Chinese hand grenade with a detonator, two Indian hand grenades with detonators, two Baofeng wireless handsets, two tear smoke shells, two stun grenades, six smoke bombs, five camouflage pants, four camouflage shirts, two camouflage t-shirts, and a camouflage cap were also surrendered at the PS.

At Sagolmang PS, the surrendered items include a country-made rifle, three INSAS LMG magazines, an INSAS rifle magazine, a Baofeng handset, two bulletproof jacket covers, and seven blank cartridges.

At Thoubal Dam PS, the surrendered cache consists of an SMG carbine with magazine along with five rounds, three 12-bore single-barrel guns, a .303 rifle, one 36 HE hand grenade without detonator, five walkie-talkie sets (Baofeng), an M18 smoke grenade (WP), an anti-riot rubber bullet 38mm, 12 helmets, two bulletproof helmets, four pairs of combat shoes, 13 bulletproof jackets, two rounds of 7.62mm SLR, two rounds of 7.62mm AK-47, two 5.56mm INSAS rounds, and two live cartridges.

At the CDO-Imphal East District unit, authorities received five SLR rifles, an INSAS rifle with magazine, one .303 rifle, five SMG carbines, one 7.62 mm MAS series bolt-action sniper, an anti-riot gun with a gun case, four 12-bore single-barrel guns, a modified .22 rifle, two .32 pistols marked "Made in Switzerland" and "Made in Francisco" with magazines, six blank cartridges, seven rounds of 12-bore, seven of 9mm, nine of 7.62mm SLR, and two of 5.56mm INSAS, six 36 HE hand grenades with two detonators, 102 rounds of .380-inch MK.2 revolver, three rounds of KF97 .380 revolver, 10 rounds of 7.62x25mm, four of 7.62x39mm, 15.303 blank smokeless ammunition, four MK12T explosives, a smoke grenade, two head-gears (Patka), two bulletproof iron plates, and four bulletproof jacket covers.

At Porompat PS, a locally made .32 pistol, a .303 LMG magazine, four 7.62mm rounds, five 9mm rounds, two vehicle-mounted TS devices, two stinger grenade anti-riot devices, five stun grenades, a multi-baton cartridge an-ti-riot, and three tear smoke cells were surrendered.

At the SP Office, Imphal East district, surrendered 'items include five SLR rifles, two .303 rifles, 71 rounds of SLR, nine bulletproof jackets, six bulletproof plates, and a camouflage cap.

At Andro PS, a hand grenade was also surrendered.

In Kangpokpi district, arms and ammunition were surrendered at New Keithelmanbi PS and 33 AR.

The items included a 7.62 SLR with magazine, a .303 rifle with magazine, four SBBL guns, two 9mm pistols with magazines, a long-range & a short-range projectile launchers, four long-range projectile bombs, a short-range projectile bomb, an 81mm mortar bomb, two Baofeng wireless sets, a tear smoke shell chili, five rounds of SBBL, three of .303, five of 7.62 SLR, 18 SBBL casings, four bulletproof covers, two helmets, an ammunition pouch, and eight rubber bullets.

At Saikul PS, a 9mm CB1A1, pistol, a 9mm magazine, a large-sized magazinepouch, a 36 HE hand grenade, two .303 rounds, 28 rounds of 13-bore, a pair of jungle boots, two walkie-talkie wireless sets, four BP plates, and four BP jackets were surrendered.
