GOC flags off National integration tour

Imphal, October 30 2012:
The Red Shield Division and its units have been a frontrunner in fostering peace and harmony in the state of Manipur.
The Division has organized a 15 day long , National Integration Tour (NIT), for the youth from the remote areas of Tamenglong and Senapati districts, under the Op Sadhbhavana program, to promote awareness and encourage them to partake with the mainland.
The NIT team comprises of 25 students and 2 teachers, of which 15 are girl students.
The students are from various schools and colleges of Manipur, and will be making good of this opportunity to travel out of the state of Manipur for the first time.
The team is scheduled to visit important places including India Gate, Red Fort, Qutab-Minar, Delhi Metro, Amer Fort, Hawa Mahal, Jal Mahal.
Albert Hall, Jantar Mantar, Taj Mahal and Agra Fort.
The NIT team members would also have the honour of interacting with eminent personalities including Dr. Pranab Mukherjee, President of India, Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, former President of India, General Bikram Singh, PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, SM, VSM, ADC, Chief of Army Staff.
Maj Gen K K Sinha, SM, GOC Red Shield Division flagged off the tour on 29 Oct 12.Speaking on the occasion, he complimented the students for the keenness shown by them to participate in the National Integration Tour.
The General furthered that the tour was formulated with an intention to give the youth from the remote areas of Manipur an excellent opportunity to have a fair glance of the rich heritage and legacy of the country.
The General also mentioned that he is confident that the tour will imprint positive views in these youth and will help them appreciate the paybacks of fostering peace and prosperity in the region.
