Imphal, July 30 2020: The Officer-in-Charge of Singjamei Police Station Inspector P Sanjoy Singh has expressed regrets to the members of the Joint Committee on COVID-19 and for any unintended action on his part which might have offended the members in any way, in connection to the misunderstanding between the OC and members of the Joint Committee on COVID-19 on July 13 .

The press statement signed by OC Singjamei PS Inspector P Sanjoy said that on July 13 at Temple of Learning Quarantine Centre, Canchipur, there was a misunderstanding between the two parties when the OC, to ensure social distancing, shouted from a distance to disperse those gathered around, following which there was some exchange of words between him and the joint committee members on the issue of maintaining social distance (and verification of ILP in QCs) .

The misunderstanding was regarding the respective roles and protocol at the QC, it said and added that the incident was unfortunate and he expressed regrets over it to all those concerned.
