Women's orgns demand incorporation of all JCILPS points

Bishnupur, July 30 2015: "Suspend the police personnel involved in the killing of Sapam Robinhood before the judicial inquiry.

Include the five points of JCILPS in the new Draft Bill and implement it in the earliest possible time" were the slogans of the protesters who formed human chain at Bishnupur Market by the volunteers and activists on Thursday.

They had also staged a sit-in-protest there.

The sit-in protest was organised by Lumlangdong Apunba Nupi Lup, Keithel Chaokhat Lup and Apunba Lup of Bishnupur.

Different communities and tribes of 12 wards and 9 villages around Bishnupur Headquarters took part in the protest.

The protesters also held a torchlight rally in the night following the call for sustained campaign by Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS) .

Lourembam Ongbi Nganbi, a prominent woman leader also questioned the motive of the drafting committee in re-inviting the representatives of All Manipur Bar Association.

She felt that it was a mere repetition and there is no new ground since advisory opinions of the AMBA representatives had been obtained for the botched Bill which was withdrawn on July 15 .

Nganbi said that if the experts and the government cannot come out with a concrete law to safeguard the indigenous people of the State, they should adopt the one suggested by JCILPS.
