16 suspected foreign Nationals remanded into judicial custody

JMIC Imphal West-II, yesterday, rejected the bail application filed by 16 suspected foreign National who were trying to enter the state along National Highway 37, Imphal Jiribam road on March 22, and remanded them into judicial custody.
The 16 individuals were produced before the Court by a team of Patsoi PS along with a prays for remanding them into judicial custody for smooth investigation of the case.
The IO, through the APP, submitted that the address given by the suspected foreign national of Silchar Cachar district is suspected to be false.
It was further submitted that on March 22, at around 5.30 pm, acting on reliable information that some foreign nationals have illegally entered the State through NH 37 from Jiribam side, Patsoi police immediately conducted frisking and checking in front of Patsoi PS and intercepted two passenger vehicles before detaining 16 suspected foreign National on spot for proper verification .
During the verification, the police contacted OC Jiribam PS, through telephone, to find out whether all the detained individual were registered/checked at the foreigner check post Jiribam to which the said OC intimated that out of the 16 individuals, two individuals identified as Nazim Uddin Laskar and Helal Hussain Majumdar had not registered at the check post.
The IO continued that the two individuals were questioned very carefully and during the questioning, Nazim Uddin Lasker revealed that he is a Rohingya Muslim and entered India from Myanmar and is presently stationed at Mahanagar Jirighat.
On the other hand, Helal Hussain Majumdar disclosed that he is a Bengali Muslim and entered India from Bangladesh and is presently staying at Mahanagar Jirighat.
Further both of them revealed that they were on their way to Imphal in search of manual labour and shelter.
In the meantime, an individual identified as Sathi Ahmed of Jirighat (presently staying at Hapta Central Masajid area) came to Patsoi PS for bailing out the said two foreign Nationals but instead he was also detained by the police for investigation due to suspicion.
On preliminary interrogation, Sathi Ahmed revealed that he used to transport unknown persons from Jirighat to Imphal by getting some money as gratification.
The remaining 13 other individuals were also verified by police and during the verification, they claimed to be citizens of India but they were still detained on suspicion of being illegal migrants and their electoral identity card and documents appeared to be forged as well.
The IO further submitted that during investigation, it came to light that Nazim Uddin Lasker and Helal Hussain Majumdar have no/ authentic document (NRC) as proof of their citizenship while Hussain Ahemad Lasker produced an electoral ID card but on checking through Voter helpline Apps the serial number of electoral voter ID was registered in the name of a female.
The Court, after going through the materials on record, remanded the 16 suspected foreign Nationals into judicial custody remand and rejected their bail applications.
