Toupokpi PHC in the pipeline

CAF & PD Minister Karam Shyam has conveyed that construction of a PHC at Toupokpi Ground, Langthabal Kunja (Imphal West) is in the pipeline and the decision to construct the PHC will be decided in the next Cabinet meeting.
He was speaking as the chief guest at the launching function of Community Based Rehabilitation Project for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) cum blood donation camp organized by Spastic Society of Manipur at its newly constructing building at Toupokpi, Langthabal Kunja, today.
Asserting that constructing the PHC was supposed to be decided in a Cabinet meeting in the past, Minister Shyam informed that it was put on hold as he was out of station.
Discussion on the matter is almost finished and the decision will be made in the next Cabinet meeting, he said and added that the PHC will be quite beneficial to the Spastic Society of Manipur, apart from the villagers of Langthabal and its surrounding villages.
He also assured that he will construct a road for the Spastic Society of Manipur as the new building is nearing completion stage.
Pointing out that differently abled persons can do many things that cannot be done by a normal person, Minister Shyam stated that differently abled persons are no less than normal persons and informed that there are around 54,000 disabled persons living in Manipur currently.
Many normal persons are getting addicted to drugs and alcohol and many of them have even died.
However, many handicapped persons are doing various things that cannot be done by a normal person.
Hence, every disabled persons should not lower their self esteem nor think less of themselves, the Minister said and asked all disabled persons to show their abilities and live with contentment.
Declaring that he will extend all possible help in the developmental activities and initiatives taken up in Langthabal area in the future, Shyam further appealed to the youth and people of Langthabal to offer full support to such initiatives.
Reminding that the State Government has taken up a step to provide a pension amount of Rs 1500 per month to the disabled people, he opined that equality among the people is a must for a peaceful society.
The function was presided by Spastic Society of Manipur's secretary Dr Laishram Tokendro, was also attended by Education Minister Thokchom Radheshyam as the guest of honour.
