Bishnupur, December 29 2024: Writer's Club Manipur, Nambol has conferred the 1st "Dr Irengbam Ibohalbi Ningsing Sahitya Award", 2024 to writer Thoudam Netrajit for his book titled "Chingnunggi Sana Loktagi" today.

The award is sponsored by Oinam Assembly Constituency MLA, I Nalini in memory of her late husband, Dr I Ibohalbi, former MLA of Oinam constituency.

The award carries a cash prize of Rs 25,000, citation and a shawl.

The award ceremony organized by Writer's Club Manipur, Nambol was held at the residence of Oinam MLA, I Nalini.

The ceremony was attended by Langthabal constituency MLA, Karam Shyam, Moirang constituency MLA, Th Shanti and Writer's Club Manipur, Nambol, president, Phurailatpam Brajamuhini Devi as presidium members.

The attendees paid a floral tribute to the portrait of late Dr I Ibohalbi and observed one minute of silence for the departed soul.

Speaking on the occasion, MLA Nalini stated that writers played an important role in developing a society.

She continued that when her husband was alive, beside politics, he was always fond of literature and tried to uplift literature at the highest level.

Therefore after due consideration with the family members, it was decided to hold the award ceremony in memory of her late husband, she added.
