7 member team to visit ICFAI University today

A team of individuals from Manipur, including State Government officials, is planning to leave for ICFAI University, Tripura tomorrow to ascertain the unrest which is prevailing in the campus currently.
Speaking to media persons at AMSU HQ today, Joint Students Coordinating Committee (JSCC) convenor Peter Laishram said that the said incident and unrest at the university is not ragging but a conflict between the third and fourth semester students of the university.
Claiming that due to conflict the students of the North East have been facing psychological and emotional trauma and are even afraid to step out of the campus, Peter said that NESO, JSCC and guardians of the students met the Education Minister and Commissioner today.
A 7 member team comprising of the Education Director, DIG and JSCC and guardians, will head for the university tomorrow and necessary steps will be taken to solve the issue, he added.
On the other hand, NESO secretary general Sinam Prakash said that a similar incident occurred in the university back in 2013 and added that he will head to Guwahati today and meet the president of the association so as to convene an emergency executive meeting to discuss the issue.
